Terms and conditions of sale
The agreement between you and us when you order a keepsake. Written to be read, because terms nobody can understand protect nobody.
Who you are buying from
Silver Fingerprint Ltd, trading as Recollections Jewellery. Registered in England and Wales, company number 06754636. Registered office: 18 Hermes Road, Gilmoss Industrial Estate, Liverpool, L11 0ED. VAT registration GB 976 6267 64.
How an order is made
Placing an order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we email to confirm we have your order — not when you click, and not when payment is taken. If we cannot make what you have asked for, we will tell you and refund you in full.
We may decline an order: if a piece is no longer available, if a price was displayed wrongly, or if the print we receive cannot be used and no usable one can be provided.
Prices
Prices on this website are in pounds sterling and include VAT at the current rate. Delivery, where it is charged, is shown before you pay. Trade partners are quoted and invoiced separately under their own account terms.
If a price is obviously wrong — a decimal in the wrong place — we are not obliged to honour it. We will tell you before doing anything and you can confirm or cancel.
Your print
Everything we make begins with a real print or real handwriting. You confirm that you have the right to give it to us: it is yours, or it belongs to someone in your care, or you have the agreement of the person it belongs to or of their family.
Prints vary. Skin, ink, paper and pressure all affect what we receive, and a print that is faint, smudged or incomplete may not be usable. If yours cannot be used we will tell you quickly, explain why, and send another Print Taking Kit free of charge. Where we can improve a print we will, and we will tell you what we have done.
We keep your print on file so you can order again in future without taking another one. You can ask us to delete it at any time — see our privacy policy.
What we make
Every piece is made by hand from solid metal and hallmarked. Because a print is unique and the work is done by hand, no two pieces are identical, and small variations in depth, finish and placement are part of what you are buying rather than a fault.
Photographs on this site are a guide. Metals reflect differently and screens vary, so colour and shine will not match exactly.
The Studio preview
The piece the Studio draws as you build it is a guide to what we will make, not a copy of it. Where your print is not with us yet, the preview stands an example print on the metal in its place — the piece you receive carries your own print, so it will not look like the picture you last saw on the screen.
Where a print is with us, one of our specialists decides how it sits: how large, how deep and how it is placed, because all of that depends on how clearly the print has come out. They stay as close to what you set in the Studio as the print allows, and they make small adjustments where those get the best out of it. That judgement is part of what you are paying for rather than a departure from what you ordered.
Engraving is reproduced exactly as you give it to us, including spelling. Please check it carefully — we cannot re-engrave a mistake free of charge.
Delivery, returns and cancelling
These have pages of their own, and they form part of these terms: delivery and returns and cancellations.
Your legal rights
Nothing here takes away your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Whatever else these terms say, everything we sell must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it is not, you are entitled to a repair, a replacement or your money back.
What we are responsible for
If we fail to meet these terms we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of it. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses — these terms are for consumers.
We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
We are not responsible for delays outside our control, such as a postal strike or severe weather. We will tell you as soon as we know and do what we can to limit the delay. If it becomes substantial you may cancel and be refunded for anything not yet made.
Design and images
The designs, text and photographs on this site belong to us. Your print, your handwriting and your words remain yours. By ordering you allow us to use them for the purpose of making your piece. We will never use a recognisable print, a name or a photograph of your piece in our own marketing without asking you first.
Complaints
Tell us. Email [email protected] or call 0151 545 0773 and a person will deal with it. If we cannot resolve it between us you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution scheme, and you keep every right to go to court.
Legal acknowledgement and governing law
By placing an order you confirm that you have read and accept these terms and our privacy policy. You are asked to confirm this at the checkout before any order is placed.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own courts. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
We may change these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it, and the date is at the foot of this page.
